Example Projects:

Freedom Lessons was a delightful collaboration with Flame, Mashell and Blake Flattley. We worked together to envision, write, produce and perform this album based on Martin Luther's Small Catechism. I worked with Blake on all the sung components, but especially wrote and sang the chorus hook for The Promise, Can You Hear Me, Means of Grace, and bridge of Table of Duties. Instrumentally I played electric guitar on Means of Grace and wrote and performed the programmed elements of Table of Duties.  Mashell had a great ear and managed the lion's share of and production and instrumentation while Flame's extraordinary lyrical rap was the featured through-line of the project.

Streetcorner Revival was my Covid project - a full length Americana record I produced for the imitable Zach Southhall. We stayed true to the genre but gave each song a cross-genre twist: I'll Fly Away met Supergrass, God's Gonna Cut You Down met Radiohead, and we turned This Train into a proclamation of the law when, through key and tempo changes, we made it feel as thought the heavenly train was too fast to catch. I wrote arrangements and played mandolin and programmed banjo parts. Of course Carl Caspersen on bass, Evan Haymond on guitar, Art Pacheco on drums, etc. We tried as best we could to produce the album in such a way that you could envision a musician for every part.

The Book of Richard was a cherished opportunity I had to reconnect with my incredibly talented friend Jude Wright. Jude had written a rock opera-esque EP but was having trouble being pleased with the production, so I suggested we give it a shot together. I play a variety of instruments on the record, from keys to guitars, and a lot of synthesizers. This record was so much practice in developing vibes and tones.

Jesus, Coming Light was a blast to produce with Blake Flattley. I think Blake and I started the project and had the whole thing wrapped in 4 weeks - I wrote arrangements, programming parts for mallet, instruments, horns, harmonies, bongos, select drums, flutes, and guitars. Of course Carl Caspersen on bass and Chris Matthews on drums. Influences on this record ranged from The National to Radiohead.

Melochromatic is the band I formed with my college buddies: Matt Preston, Tim Bauer, Efrain Diaz, Blake Flattley, Aran Nagashima, and Jude Wright. It's a group that mainly tinkers around and releases music that was fun for us and our friends to make. The most recent iteration has consisted of me, Matt, Tim, and Jude.
